[music |Bring her Down (To Crippletown) - Rob Zombie]

I went for a walk today.

It was an accidental walk at that. Not to say that I woke up in the morning to find myself up and about in a foot-to-pavement-repeat motion. Rather it was a case of a necessity becoming a purposeful, intended rambling experience.

You see, HAVING to walk from one place to another does not constitute "Going for a walk". If you are walking to the pub, and someone asks you what you're doing, you say "I'm going to the pub." If you're one of those health freaks or mentalist bastards who enjoys fresh air and excercise, you may engage in the pointless excercise of "Going for a walk". You simply wander from one place in a given direction, potter about like the village idiot for an unspecified length of time, and then return to your house/flat/boat.

So anyway, yes, I was going for a walk. By accident. I met with a good friend today and we spent the afternoon as many men of our age do, walking shakily from café to shop to fire-juggling-street-performer in search of something to alleviate the soul-sodomising boredom that only Cheltenham can provide. During this time I purchased a handful of compact discs that bore recordings by one Robert Cummings, formerly of White Zombie. I purchased these "C.D.'s" in a temporary bout of forgetting that my C.D. Player is in my Student Home, and the only thing here in Prestbury that can play them is a knackered, wobbly old laptop.

As the afternoon drew to a close, my associate and I meandered our way through Cheltenham's picturesque sanford district, before arriving at his home in Charlton Kings. We said our goodbyes and Have a good New Yearses, and then I began to head home. Note, I BEGAN to head home.

Soon after starting on my return journey, I commenced absent-mindedly heading towards Balcarras Secondary School. Once there, in something of a low-IQ-fuelled daze, I journeyed past all of the usual spots that, as a child, I frequented and enjoyed on an almost daily basis. It was an interesting little journey, spying shops that had changed or shut down altogether, houses redecorated, trees felled or grown.

As I neared Prestbury, I began to think.

I started this very LJ account in order to signal the start of a new chapter in my life. A chapter that has since been finished, bound and shelved, collecting dust in my rapidly deteriorating memory. I'm sitting in the living room I always returned to after having travelled the route I always used to walk. No matter how far away I stay, I'm always going to return here, right back to the origin of who I am today, always with a fresh new mindset.

I think I need to go on more walks in future.

A belated Merry Christmas to all, and I hope you have excellent New Years.

~JACK~

On the Eurovision 2nd Semi-Final [May. 22nd, 2008|08:16 pm]
ICELAND:
Middle of the road Eurobeat with fairly irritating performers.

SWEDEN:
OHMYFUCKINGGOD! KILL IT WITH FIRE! Part Woman part SATAN! She needs to eat a meal... and wear a mask.

TURKEY:
Think Muse... but Turkish, and with a big fat bearded excitable bassist. Not too bad actually. Certainly the best so far.

UKRAINE:
Neck-Spasms =/= Dancing. Also she should be ashamed of herself, locking her backing dancers in a perspex box.

LITHUANIA:
I don't think this was a performer. A (tone deaf) 19th century romantic poet just got pissed, wandered through time and ended up on stage.

ALBANIA:
A song generally needs to use more than one note love. Utterly forgettable.

SWITZERLAND:
A useful note for next year Switzerland: Wait until your singer's voice has FINISHED breaking before making them perform.

CZECH REPUBLIC:
J LO!?

BELARUS:
Again, painfully forgettable.

LATVIA:
"A type of pirate, yes we have been called that."

CROATIA:
No... srsly... wtf? The Croatian OAP contortionist mafia? AWESOME! As gimmicky acts go, not bad at all. And Oh God the Old man is shouting! Everyone do as he says! You don't know what he's capable of!
I don't give a shit about any of the other acts now. A 100 million year old Croatian man in a suit carrying a cane, scratching a grammaphone like it's a turntable. FOLLOW THAT BULGARIA!

BULGARIA:
It was going well until she started singing. Although, double points for playing turntables which happen to be ON MOTHERFUCKING FIRE!
Singer - Terrible
Backing band - Prodigy + Daft Punk + A FIRE

DENMARK:
'Ave a banaaaana

GEORGIA:
This is your first attempt at the Eurovision... and THIS is the best you can do!? Her voice makes my penis die.

HUNGARY:
Rhapsody meets Disney. With fire it kill.

MALTA:
Certainly the most lively of the Divas tonight. Still very boring though...

CYPRUS:
There's a lot of forgettable acts tonight. 'Least I think there are, I forgot.

FORMER YUGOSLAV REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA:
Middle-aged chavs and a scary woman demanding that the viewers let her love them.

PORTUGAL:
Oh Sweet Jesus she's going to eat someone!

[music |Street Fighter - Guile's theme]

First post in a while. And it be movie related!

First of all. If you have seen neither "Ironman" nor "In Bruges" yet, then do so immediately. I was pleasantly surprised by In Bruges, especially finding out it was written my Martin McDonagh, the twisted genius behind "The Pillowman".

Also, I KNEW I had seen James Callis in something prior to Battlestar Galactica! Just wasn't expecting it to be Bridget Jones' diary...

[music |Rick Astley - Never gonna give you up]

The unthinkable has happened.
I think this may be the definition of Epic Fail...

Users of Firefox will be aware that if you shutdown your computer without closing your Firefox internet browser, when you next turn your computer on and access the internet, it will ask you if you want to restore your previous session.

I turned on my computer. I double-clicked Firefox. I was greeted with the message "Would you like to restore previous session or start a new session?" Having forgotten what the last webpage I had accessed was, I clicked "Restore Previous Session".

I was greeted with the sight of Rick Astley telling me that he was never going to give me up, neither was he going to let me down...

Ladies and gentlemen... I just Rickrolled... myself...

It has come to my attention that I am very annoying.
I would like everyone to bear in mind that I do not mean to be, it's just a by-product of me trying to be funny. So yes, my apologies, I am trying to work on it :)

HEY GUYS!!
I just got internet working in my room, and what a room it is! Bigger than my one at home, seriously toying with the idea of hosting Games Night, it's more than big enough :D

Everyone in the Halls is lovely, been round getting to know them this evening, went out for drinks in the SU Bar and then Chocolate Biscuits and Mountain Dew in the communal Kitchen.

Never had a lock on the door before... I can air-guitar to my hearts content!!!

Missing you all though, especially you Rowan, much hugs and kisses and WANT SEE YOU SOON!!! Missing you so much!

So yes, internet is on, so you guys don't need to worry about my UCIP logs, they shall be as... dependable as always...

Hope to see most of the readers of this soon!

FUCK YEAH!

(Also, the first guy I spoke to at the BBQ today is doing exactly the same course as me, stroke o' luck! Also has had the stigma of being called "Harry Potter" since year 8. Everyone here so awesome!!)

Had an odd dream, the other night.

Krax's phone was stolen, then I got a call from the stolen phone from a group that claimed they were going to blow up the earth. Then a friend of mine was kidnapped by pirates who forced her to jump over a very low slung rope to see if she was pirate-material.

Gotta remember to stop eating cheese before bed.

Although... acestar, if you see any pirates hanging around looking suspicious, best play it safe and hide.

To all who get their results today: GOOD LUCK!
